Brake pads are available in different compounds for different conditions. When installing a speed bleeder to your bike, it’s always better to do it on a brake system that is already full of fluid. It is recommended that each time you use your motorcycle; you should check the oil level. Generally speaking, engines which are in good condition will not use much oil between services. Before performing any checks, place the bike upright on a level surface. Whether the bike has an oil inspection window or a dipstick, look to check the level is between the minimum and maximum markings. If you find you need to top up the oil, make sure you use the correct motorcycle oil for your bike.
First, when installing them, a very small amount of the brake fluid will leak out because you will be switching the screw out while there is fluid in the system. Just remember to keep the reservoir cover on throughout this process, as keeping it on will keep the system mostly sealed and will keep the brake fluid from just pouring out once you remove the bleed screw. Be sure to be extra careful not to get this on anything and put a towel behind the bleed screw before you start to take it off to catch the brake fluid.
Second, the brake fluid level naturally drops as your brake pads wear. Next, most modern bikes have a bit of extra volume in the brake fluid reservoir. If you haven’t been adding brake fluid as the level drops, you shouldn’t have to worry about overflowing the reservoir if you pump up the brakes between swapping the pads on each caliper on a dual-disc system. If you have been adding fluid, you may want to visit our how-to on servicing the hydraulic portion of your brakes and you may need to draw some of the fluid out of the reservoir before you start. Otherwise, a brake job may end up turning into a paint job, because spilled brake fluid is nasty to your paint.
Perform a regular check-up of your oil level, 5202 led bulb brake lights, brake pads and brake caliper, engine and suspension mounting, steering bearings and check the tire pressure. This check-up should be done regularly to ensure that your bike is ready and won’t break down on you while you’re out riding.
