Windshield wiper blades are vehicle specific. On some vehicles, both wiper blades are the same size. On other vehicles, the two wiper blades are different sizes. The optimal wiper blade size is determined by the manufacturer and selected for a proper fit to clear as much of the windshield as possible. If you replace your wiper blades with a larger sized blade hoping to clear more area on the windshield, you will find that one or both will hang off the side or hit the top of the windshield trim when upright. Additionally, if both windshield wipers are too long, they may hit each other causing damage to the wiper blades, arms, and even the wiper motor. This will cause excessive wear on the wiper blades leading to spots that do not get cleared when the wiper blade isn’t flush with the windshield.
Windscreen wipers should be checked regularly to ensure that they provide you with a clear vision in wet weather, or even though you have the brightest h7 led headlight bulbs, you can’t clear the see the road condition on rainy days. The rubber of your windscreen wipers can wear out, as well as get cracked and dirty over time due to use and from weather conditions. Worn out wipers can also potentially damage your car’s windscreen: keeping them in top condition will reduce the chance of this occurring, saving you money in costly repairs, and keeping you safe on the roadie.
Use a clean scrubber (preferably a new one). It is a good idea to change it before performing any major annual cleaning. For smaller weekly window cleaning projects you won’t need to buy new ones every time. If you don’t want to use a scrubber, you can always work with a lamb wool applicator, porcupine cleaner, or a sponge instead. Always keep in mind that a dirty applicator can leave dirt behind.
Set the new blades in an upright position on the windshield. With the ignition in accessory mode, switch the wipers on until they’re mid-swipe and then turn the car off so the wiper arms are standing straight up, perpendicular to the hood line. It’s often easier to remove the old blades with the wiper arms up unless the hood or some other obstruction keeps you from pulling the arm away from the windshield.
Lastly, replacing your windshield wiper blades is something you can easily buy the led car lights and do yourself, or some local auto parts stores will change them out for free with any new purchase of blades. I’ll admit, they can be finicky. I’ve even seen an auto parts employee struggle to swap blades on a car, so you’re not the only one! It seems like different models have different ways of securing onto your washer arm. At any rate, with a little bit of patience, you’ll have those blades swapped and enjoying a squeaky clean windshield once again.
